STRUCTURE
The canvas has an old lining.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in very good condition, with no apparent loss or damage. There is a very discoloured and dirty old varnish overall, and a fine craquelure consistent with the paintings age.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals quite a lot of ingrained dirt in the craquelure and canvas weave, however there are no signs of any damage or restoration.
FRAME
Held in a gold painted wooden frame.
