STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be good condition with no apparent damage or loss of paint.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals retouching to the sitter's face, and hand. Elsewhere there are some scattered minor areas of retouching in the sitter's ermine mantle and in the sky behind. There is also a thin layer of old discoloured varnish overall.

Held in a period carved and gilded wooden frame
