Catalogue Note

We are grateful to Dr. David Ryley Marshall for endorsing the attribution to Servandoni after first hand inspection of the original.  The composition is closely related to Servandoni's 1731 reception piece for the Académie Royale, now in the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Paris (see L'Ecole de la liberté, exhibition catalogue, Paris 2009, no. 192).
