- Watercolour over traces of pencil, heightened with touches of bodycolour and gum arabic, on vellum;
inscribed in pen and brown ink, lower centre: HELLEBORUS Scapo Sub-unifloro Sub-nudo folus pedatis. Lin. / True Black Hellebore or Chriftmas [sic] Rose.

Condition
The colours in this work has been well preserved. There is some minor discolouration to the vellum, at the edges of the sheet. There is some very minor pigment loss to some of the painted area, however this can only be seen on very close inspection. The vellum has crinkled slightly. This work has not been laid down.
