  • Both watercolour over etched outline;
    A: etched signature and date: Keiserman 1799;
    bear inscriptions in pen and ink on the old mount: vue du Temple d'Antonin & faustine and Tombeau de Cecila Mettella [sic]

Condition

A: Seems to be laid down on a heavier sheet of paper; strips around edge, with inscription, pasted on. Condition good overall. Small spots in sky, top left of centre, one of which may be retouched with blue; small bit of paper stuck on in tree nearest to temple. Across the middle of the sheet, two bands which are slightly paler - and another one going diagonally from corner column towards right - B: Same mounting. Condition overall good except for slight foxing in sky and some discolouration, esp. at top edge.
