  • Three Illustrations of Flowers from the Herbier Général de l'Amateur
  • All gouache and watercolour over black chalk with gum arabic on vellum, with double framing lines in brown ink and gold;
    all signed in brown ink lower left: P. Bessa.

Condition

All are framed. All are laid down with the mount glued down on top. The sheet with the purple flower has a small light brown stain towards the left hand side of the framed flower, just beside the leaf. The flower with blue petals - the vellum has a few tiny brown spots at the left margin, outside the framed flower. The vellum in all three drawings has undulated slightly.
