The canvas has a fairly recent relining which is stable. The painting has a fairly recent restoration though is still somewhat dirty. The restoration carried out is predominately in the shape of repairs to a series of large damages: for example the full width of the upper margin has undergone significant restoration to a depth from the upper edge ranging from 3cm. to circa 10cm. ; other examples include a restored damage in the centre left approximately 10 x 10 cm.; an area in the lower left corner where there is a series of small tears; a large square patch of replaced canvas just to the left of the centre of the composition approx 10 x 15 cm; another area of replaced canvas on the urn itself approx 20 x 7cm. , and another such area in the lower right corner of approx 15 by 10 cm. There are further smaller restorations and repairs throughout. The paint surface itself is uneven, in some areas being quite well preserved, but in others somewhat worn. The painting would benefit from a re-restoration and cleaning. The painting is sold with a gilt frame.
