Catalogue Note

When last sold in 2005, Professor Nicola Spinosa identified the present painting to be a work by Palumbo, on the basis of photographs.

A native of Naples, Palumbo received his first artistic training under Battista Caracciolo and later under Artemisia Gentileschi (during her sojourn in that city).
