Catalogue Note

First illustrated edition of this pioneering work of Renaissance anatomy. Colombo was a surgeon at Padua who worked closely with Vesalius and is credited with the discovery of the pulmonary circuit, anticipating Harvey's work on the circulation of the blood. Of particular interest in this volume is the supplement with Coiter's celebrated plates of comparative zoological anatomy.
