Catalogue Note

Second edition of one of the great precursors to Harvey's exposition of the circulation of the blood. The first to employ the term circulatio sanguinis, Cesalpino, like Harvey after him, based his theory of the centripetal flow of blood on an Aristotelian model; unlike Harvey, he did not support his theory with empirical evidence.
