Original canvas.
There are few small spots of paint loss near the upper right corner and some small spots of staining through the top of the trees. There are a few other small areas of paint loss along the lower edge; in the lower right corner and some frame abrasions near the centre of the left edge; otherwise the work appears in good overall condition.
Ultraviolet light reveals areas of retouching in each corner, some of which corresponds to the above mentioned areas of paint loss. There are additional areas of retouching along the upper edge, in the sea in the upper left quadrant, near the centre of the left edge and to the roof of the building in the lower right corner.
