Condition

Original canvas. There are artist's pinholes in the corners and the canvas is undulating slightly. There are a few small spots of paint separtation to the leaves of the tree in the foreground. There is a tiny surface scratch to the forearm of the central woman. There is some minor frame abrasion along the lower half of the left edge. The surface is slightly dirty with some specks of staining, including two to the water lower right, and may benefit from a light clean. Otherwise the work is in apparently good original condition. Ultraviolet light reveals no apparent signs of retouching. Held under glass in a painted and gilt composition frame; unexamined out of frame. Please telephone the department on 020 7293 6242 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
