Catalogue Note

Although Leach made teapots throughout his career, the long spout, flat lid with lifting loop and the decoration of this pot does suggest an affinity with some of the earlier examples made in St Ives. The use of the oriental-influenced six-dot flowers on the present teapot is very similar to that used on a comparable example in The Milner-White Collection, and which can be dated to circa 1927. For an illustration of this teapot, see Sarah Riddick, Pioneer Studio Pottery: The Milner-White Collection, London, Lund Humphries,  1990, cat. no.59.
