Catalogue Note

"Even the memory of special scenes of beauty fades away. That is why God created artists... He gave them the power to capture precious moments and glorious memories and lock them in time and place for evermore. He have them the power to preserve pieces of history and vignettes of life and, thus, give man the treasured heritage of bridging the present with the past. And the future. With some artists, not all, God went further. He gave them the power to put a part of themselves in their paintings...[which] seem to take a life of their own... These are paintings that bear the soulmark of the artist. I believe the paintings of artist Lee Man Fong have these special qualities."
