- 18 karat gold, diamond, emerald, ruby, necklace
The graduated double-strand of Indian style composed of fluted emerald beads spaced by tumbled ruby beads, length 15½ inches, the clasp set in the center with a rose-cut diamond within a silver collet, accented by cabochon rubies and tumbled ruby beads, applied with green enamel, mounted in 18 karat gold, French assay mark.
Condition
Emeralds are medium bluish green, heavily included (some black inclusions), of moderate to strong saturation. A few beads with old additional drill holes, most with fractures and surface reaching inclusions and abrasions commensurate with age. Some soiling to the fluting and open fissures that can be removed with cleaning. Rubies of deep pinkish purple red of irregular shape, moderately included but most with open surface feathers that have been polished over. Diamond of approximately K to L color, SI clarity. Enamel with minor losses to the corners. Metal with minor surface wear. String has loosened and would benefit from restringing. Overall condition good.
