Description

  • emerald, diamonds, platinum
The octagonal step-cut emerald weighing 12.03 carats, flanked by trapeze diamonds, size 52½.

Condition

Stamped 750 for gold. Engraved E12.03 indicating the weight of the emerald. A green hue with medium strong saturation of colour. Almost clean stone to the naked eye, some minor typical crystal inclusions are noticeable to the naked eye and to a further extent under magnification, minor nicks. For further information, please refer to the SSEF report. Further accompanied by SSEF letter stating that: ' The natural emerald described in the Gemstone report no. 58236 by the Swiss Gemmological Institute SSEF possesses extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The described gemstone of 12.032 ct exhibits a well-saturated green colour and outstanding purity, combined with an attractive octagonal shape and cutting style. Microscopic examination revealed inclusions, which represent the hallmarks of Colombian emeralds from the famous mining areas Muzo, Coscuez, and Chivor, all located in the green foothills of the Cordillera Oriental in the Colombian Andes. Its saturated green colour is due to a combination of well-balanced trace elements in the stone, typical and characteristics for emeralds of Colombia. In addition to these qualities, the fact that this emerald shows no indications of clarity modification is a further sign of rarity. Natural emeralds from Colombia of this size and quality represent a great rarity and the described gemstone is thus a very exceptional treasure. Also engraved D 1.92, indicating the total weight of the diamonds, G-H colour, VS clarity. Minor scratches to the metal. In good condition.
