Description

  • Height: 7 ½ inches
the body of deep U-shape, raised on three tall legs of tapering triangular section, the loop handle on one side issuing from an animal head covering a pictogram, centred on one of two taotie masks divided by low vertical flanges, together forming a continuous frized around the sides, cast in shallow relief with two protruding eyes, a band of upright blades rising beneath the flared rim extending to a peak opposite the long guttered spout, flanked by two capped finials, encrusted greenish patina with reddish patches

Condition

The leg underneath the handle has been replaced in the past (visible in the catalogue illustration). The leg and the lower 1/2 in. part of the handle as well as 2 in. wide area of the body surrounding the leg have been replaced.
