Condition

Panel is sound. The surface retains a rich and textured impasto. There are a few areas of minor cracking in the thickest pigments and the ridges of impasto indicate that the work is somewhat dirty. There is some minor paint shrinkage occurring in the darker pigments of the depicted cows. There is some pigment loss along the lower extreme right edge and extreme lower right and left edges, possibly the result of prior frame abrasion. Under UV light: There is a light stroke of inpainting a few inches long extending from the center to the right of the extreme upper edge of the canvas, possibly to address prior frame abrasion. Overall the work is in very good condition.
