Description

  • Lynn Chadwick
  • Maquette for Teddy Boy and Girl
  • Iron and composition

  • Height: 17 1/8 in.
  • 43.5 cm

Provenance

Acquired in New York circa 1980

Condition

Maquette size Teddy Boy & Girl is consistent with Chadwick’s work of the 1950’s, the two figures had been badly bent out of alignment and had cracked and broken quite a bit of the “Stolit” material used as a filler. Similarly the arm had been bent and stolit broken out of the matrix of steel rods. The sculpture underwent careful restoration with the figures realigned and then replacement of the missing stolit, similarly the broken arm. The rest of the surface is in good condition with a pale patina and this has also been matched over the restored areas. The sculpture is now restored to a good condition and in keeping with its age.
