Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is a generous amount of sand mixed with the pigment. The work has recently been restretched on its original stretcher to address some waves in the lower registrar. There are some small pin dot areas of exposed canvas throughout the composition which appear to be inherent to the artist's process, not losses. Under UV light: there are three small spots of inpainting five inches to the right of the right most figure's ear, as well as a few small retouches at the right edge towards the lower right corner. There is a nail head sized spot of inpainting just above the lower left corner and another nail head sized spot at the center of the left edge. There is also one small spot of inpainting in the plate at the lower center. Otherwise fine, the work is in very good condition.
