Catalogue Note
The present crucifix was probably made for attachment to the center of a larger cross. With its applied corpus in high relief, it can be classified according to Paul Thoby's typology as belonging to 'Type II' or 'Gem group'. In this group the figure of Christ, always crowned, is in repoussé copper with enamelled decoration confined to the eyes, the perizonium, and the footrest.
