Condition

Relining is firm and stable. while there are good passages of paint remaining, the surface has been abraded in many of the brown tones throughout. this is most noticeable in the figures and horses on the left side of the composition. some retouching and reworking can be seen in the clouds/smoke to right of center. under UV: retouches throughout foreground, mostly in the form of reinforcements to the darks and outlines of the figures and horses. small retouches scattered in sky, with larger area over clouds/smoke as mentioned (probably over a repaired tear). In a carved and gilt wood frame.
