Condition

Both are unlined. under a slightly dirty and uneven old varnish. the paint surface on both is in excellent state with lovely preservation of detail and nice, thick impasto. there is a small hole with some paint loss on the lower portion of both central figures (as can be seen in catalogue images), and the picture with the man at center facing out also has a very tiny tear in background at upper right. examination under ultraviolet reveals only a few small scattered retouches to each, but nothing significant. In gilt wood oval shaped frames with nicks and cracks to each.
