Condition

Canvas has been relined and paint surface has been slightly pressed as a result. some slight thinnesses are noticeable in the darks of the foliage at right and left sides, and in some of the browns in center foreground including figures. however, the paint surface is very well retained in the rocks and water and overall the painting reads well and presents as impressive image. ultraviolet light reveals retouches to the upper sky with a couple of larger areas that may be old repaired punctures. scattered retouches in form of small inpaints to craquelure throughout foliage and foreground landscape. a few retouches on figures and areas of retouching at lower right and upper left corners. painting is presentable and may be hung as is. In a black ebonized wood frame.
