Condition

The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. It seems that these paintings may not be lined although the reverses of the canvases have been painted to stiffen the fabric. The tacking edges of the painting illustrated on the left have been reinforced. In the center of this same picture there is a small damage and restoration. Other than this both paintings are clean and while there are a few isolated spots of restoration and very slight thinness to the finest details, the condition is beautiful and with a fresh varnish the paintings should be hung as they are.
"This lot is offered for sale subject to Sotheby's Conditions of Business, which are available on request and printed in Sotheby's sale catalogues. The independent reports contained in this document are provided for prospective bidders' information only and without warranty by Sotheby's or the Seller."
