Catalogue Note
Van Delen frequently incoporated the motif of particular tombs in his church interiors. Others include, for example, the Tomb of Willem the Silent in the Nieuwe Kerk in Delft (1645, Amsterdam, Rijksmuseum) and that of the van Tuyll van Serooskerken family (1654, Karlsruhe, Kunsthalle).
