Catalogue Note
The present composition originates from a model by Adriaen Isenbrandt, an example of which can be found in the central panel of the triptych in the Hamburg Kunsthalle, (see M. Friedländer, Early Netherlandish Painting, Amsterdam 1974, vol. XI, no. 137) as well as in the picture in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, John. G. Johnson Collection (ibid., no. 137a).
