The rectangular case applied on the front with an oval enamel miniature of a female figure clad in diaphanous drapery, upholding an urn and flanked by putti, signed Paillet, and applied on the back with an oval watch dial featuring an amphora on a pedestal in the foreground of a sylvan setting, with Arabic numerals, the case decorated with translucent pale blue and white enamel, accented by rose-cut diamonds, inside case stamped with French assay marks and maker's mark for Ferdinand Verger, numbered 2894, jewelled manual movement, together with a platinum link and seed pearl necklace, length 19½ inches. With fitted box signed London & Ryder, New Bond Street, London.
Condition
The enamel remains in good condition with no apparent losses. The diamonds are approximately near colorless and decorative in quality. The creamy white seed pearls are well matched in color and have a nice luster. Please see Important Notice Regarding Condition of Watches on page 264 of the catalogue.

Catalogue Note
Fernand Paillet (1850-1918) was a painter of miniatures, having worked for Maison Boucheron. An example of his work is illustrated in French Jewelry of the 19th Century by Henri Verger (translated by Katherine Purcell) p. 892.
Ferdinand Verger was the founder of the firm of designers and watch case makers. The mark on this case was registered in 1896.
