Description

  • cut-glass rock crystal gilt-bronze and iron
  • 80cm. high, 55cm. diameter; 2ft. 7in., 1ft. 9½in.
of cage form with six gilt-bronze candle-nozzles cast with acanthus leaves, the whole strung with faceted beads and pear shaped drops in a trellis design intersected by flowerheads with a later ball finial, some minor replacements to drops

Condition

A most attractive andf rare chandelier in overall good condition. Two of the drip-pans are drilled where possibly there were previous drops which are now lacking and the iron cross-bars are flanked by a bead with a loop which may indicate previous drops at some point. There are minor sections of rock-crystal broken on the stem which will need restoration. The gilt bronze is slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean.
