inverted pear form, richly chased with flowers and scrolls on matted ground, engraved with arms, swing handle rising from dolphins, border of leaves enclosing the emblems of the British Isles, the stand on three scroll supports headed by chinamen masks linked by aprons of flowers, on shell feet

Provenance

The arms are those of Boswell quartering Houstoun with Boswell in pretence for Sir George Augustus Frederick Houstoun-Boswell, 2nd Baronet, born 1809, colonel in the Grenadier Guards, D.L. for Berwick, and his wife Euphemia, only daughter of Thomas Boswell of Blackadder, whom he married in 1847.  He died in 1886.
