Catalogue Note
These coolers were part of a large quantity of plate that accompanied the Duke to Ireland. His extravagant lifestyle in Dublin and his improvements to Goodwood severely effected his resources and he was forced to take up residence in Brussels after returning from Dublin. Further silver from his collection was offered Christie's, London, 20 July 1938, including impressive silver by Benjamin Smith and Paul Storr, mostly 1807.
