Provenance
Descended in the Whittlesey family of Middletown and Newington, Connecticut since 1847. The Probable original owners were Abraham Deming and Olive Smith, Who were married in 1758. After Abraham's death in 1776, Olive married David Webster. This piece is documented as part of David Webster's probate inventory, was bequeathed to his daughters through successive generations as detailed below:
David Webster (b.1721/d.1806) of Glastonbury Hartford County, Connecticut, who married Olive Smith (b.1739 d. 1831) in 1786;
To their respective children, John Webster (David Webster's son from a previous marriage in 1761 to Zerviah Hart (b.1721 / d1786) and Eunice Deming (Olive Smith's daughter from her previous marriage to Abraham Deming (b.1738 / D.1776);
To their daughter Seviah Hart Webster (b.1801/d. 1869) ,who married Erastus Latimer (b.1801/d.1876) in 1824 in Newington, Hartford County, Connecticut;
To their daughter Eunice Cordelia Latimer (b.1826 in Newington) who married Heman Alonzo Whittlesey (b.1823 in Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Mass.) January 21, 1847 in Newington, CT;
To Their daughter Georgina Whittlesey (b16 Nov. 1869 in Newington, CT) who married Gibson Wilson (b.1856) in 1889;
To their daughter, Ruth Agnes Wilson (b.1891/d.1893) who married a Mr. Borst;
To their daughter Georgina Whittesey Borst Owens;
