Hand-colored etching, engraving and aquatint, 1838, by R. Havell, on wove paper with the J. Whatman 1838 watermark

Condition

The print is in good condition. The colors slightly attenuated, most noticeable in the red of the swan's beak. A few small fox marks scattered throughout the image, one prominent mark on the swan's wing. The sheet edges with time and mat stain, the lower with some blue soiling and a faded pencil mark "H.H." right, the upper with small areas of paper loss. Verso with time and mat stain, soiling, and a few hinge remains at upper sheet edges.
