Condition

Overall in very good condition. There is one small enamel loss (3/8 x 5/16 of an inch) to one of the top petals on one of the red flowers just below the rim (visible in the catalogue illustration). The patinated copper ground of the box and lid with some occasional abrasions and small losses consistent with age and gentle use. With light rubbing to the top aperture of the box and perimeter edges of the lid and knop consistent with gentle use. The top aperture of the box is slightly out of round with some very shallow surface indentations. As a result the lid fits slightly askew in a few positions. The interior of the box and the underside of the lid are fully enameled in a vibrant green with some occasional small and minor losses. The underbase of the box with some light surface scratches and rubbing. The coloration of the box is more saturated than seen in the catalogue illustration. The patinated ground is a darker black/purple, which effectively offsets the vibrant jewel tones of the enameled floral decoration. The box displays beautifully in person, distinguished by its elegant organic form and substantial presence.
