Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 8 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. There are no visible cracks or damages to the glass cabochons. There is one small area adjacent to one dragonfly spine (4 inches high x 1 inch wide) where the shade leading on the exterior and interior has been applied with an army-green colored paint. This appears to have been done many years ago, and could be removed if desired. There is no evidence of glass replacement in this area or the rest of the shade. The patinated bronze base with one replaced ball foot, which has been sensitively patinated to match the rest of the base. The bronze surfaces on the base with a few light surface scratches and light rubbing consistent with age and gentle use. With replaced sockets and pull chains. With period finial, which is lacking a threaded pin to properly screw and affix the finial to the base wheel below (this pin is easily replaceable). The shade is distinguished by having intensely mottled background glass throughout, which adds to the visual interest and depth of the shade. The glass is far more subtle with greater artistic nuances than seen in the catalogue illustration, and is slightly less red and more amber and yellow in coloration. A fine and attractive example of the model.
