Condition

Overall in very good condition. The shade with approximately 25 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout. The shade is very slightly out of round. The shade had a very old amateur repair to the leading on the interior, presumably to stabilize an old separation to the leading. This repair was limited to a 4 ½ inch vertical lead line on the shade interior which did not extend to the exterior. This old repair was recently properly re-leaded by a professional Tiffany conservator, and is no longer visible on the shade interior. There is no evidence of any replaced glass in the shade. A few of the glass tiles with multiple cracks were also recently stabilized with Hextal (an archival resin which does not discolor over time). The shade leading is beautifully rendered displaying a rich russet brown and green patina. The bronze base is in very good condition with some light rubbing and minor surface abrasions consistent with age and gentle use, and with a few small areas of flaking to the patina to the lower base components and perimeter edges of the cushion. The base displays an exceptionally rich russet brown and green patina, and appears to retain its original sockets and paddle switches. The terminals of the three shade arms with minor abrasions marks from surface contact with the shades over the years, which fits snuggly when installed. With replaced drop finial. This is a rare variant of the Tiffany’s standard 14-inch Tulip model, which displays a slightly longer shade contour. The shade displays a fully saturated color palette and artistic glass selection distinguished by the deep red tulips and exceptionally rich cobalt blue ground which is beautifully striated with hints of purples and greens.
