  • 59.6cm, 23 1/2 in high
the inscribed base and stem richly embossed above Hebrew and English inscriptions and the initials KP in monogram, the detachale upper section with eight branches and a smaller detachable branch all with baluster scones

Condition

Marks and overall condition good, some of the sconces are a little bent and one has become detached; a few small holes in the border of the base probably indicate that it was probably originally loaded

Catalogue Note

The English inscription reads: 'This MENORAH was Presented in Everlasting Memory to the Manchester New Synagogue by Mr. and Mrs. K. Price. Kislev 5685 November 1924.' This is repeated in Hebrew.

A translation of the Hebrew inscription reads: 'Eternal Remembrance. This menorah is donated by Dov bar Kadosh Preiss and his wife, Freida, daughter of [Maashul] to the new synagogue and Beit HaMidrash in Manchester 1925'
