Description

  • Mahogany, brass
  • 67cm. 26¾in. high
8-inch dial with rococo spandrels and inscribed to a silvered recessed plaque Grant, Fleet Street, London, subsidiary strike/silent and regulation dials, the arch painted with a rural scene of a shepherdess, the substantial six pillar three train fusee and chain movement with anchor escapement and rise and fall regulation, quarter chiming on a nest of eight bells and striking on a further bell, the backplate signed and numbered within a foliate wreath J Grant, Fleet Street, London, No.265, the case with concave-sided cresting and pineapple finial, ring side handles and gothic frets, Egyptian revival corner mounts and stylised flower inlay

Condition

Dial in good clean condition and is probably a replacement for a plain painted dial. Movement is complete and running at time of cataloguing but may benefit from a clean, formerly with trip repeating but lever now lacking and cord hole in case blocked. Case in generally good restored condition, front left finial loose, old minoir repairs, cracks, dents and marks. With pendulum, winder and case key.
