Catalogue Note

These tables are based on the celebrated model by Jean-François Oeben (1721-1763),  in the Wallace Collection, London (P. Hughes, The Wallace Collection Catalogue of Furniture, Vol. II, London 1996, pp. 1065). Many of his pieces were stamped with the initials R.V.L.C to reflect the collaboration with his brother-in-law Roger Vandercruse Lacroix. This model was often copied in the 19th century.
