the cupboard doors depicting the Virtues Faith, Hope and Charity interposed by two male and two female figures representing the seasons, the lower section with two large doors depicting cherubs and swags, interposed by three female figures one holding a mirror, one a parrot and one a lute, some later replacements
Provenance
Apparently formerly in a castle in the Netherlands from where bought by the present owner.
Condition
In overall good conserved condition. The cornice probably later. The figure in the centre of the central upper door is missing an arm which has been later restored with wax, on the same door there is a small piece of the architectural carving missing. The standing female figure to the right of the central upper door has extensive loss and rubbing to the face and breast. The figure on the left hand door of the lower section is missing an arm. Cracks, chips, stains and marks throughout consistent with age and use. A most attractive piece of good proportions
