- 84cm. high, 77.5cm. diameter; 2ft. 9in., 2ft. 6½in.
the circular top inset with portrait plaques of Marie-Antoinette, the Princesse de Lamballe and other figures of the French Court interspersed with Watteauesque figures and surrounding a large central circular plaque signed S. Simonneh and painted with the birth of Venus surrounded by sea nymphs and tritons within a border of blue ribbon and polychrome flowers; the triple support modelled as winged cherub caryatids garlanded with ribbon-tied floral swags issuing from acanthus scrolls, raised on paw feet and an ebonised plinth centred by a porcelain vase and cover decorated mainly in shades of blue and gold,

Condition
The circular top is detached from the base but this can easily be fixed, one gilt bronze floral swag is broken, currently wired togetehr but will need proper restoration, and is detached from the base on one side, there are cracks and a repaired break to the ebonised stretcher, the finial of the porcelain vase has previously been broken but has been repaired, there is a fire crack to one gilt-bronze mount on one of the legs near the foot, otherwise a highly decorative piece
