Description

  • wool flatweave
  • Approximately: 214cm. high, 135cm. wide; 7ft., 4ft. 5in.
the complete panel, woven with armorial cartouche which is inset with `Fleur de lys' motif; applied with later four-sided selvedge

Condition

With extant original brown selvedge, now covered by the loosely applied later four-sided yellow selvedge. This needs to be attached more securely, in present location, or removed completely. There is original orange, yellow and brown banded narrow outer border, on the sides of the tapestry, underneath the later visible border. The original border has been cut from across the top and replaced with later orange/yellow and brown border. Again covered by the present yellow and brown border. The coat of arms has been cut out and applied. Dirty overall and there are small holes where dirt has caused detioration.
