Description
- porcelain
the slightly spreading foot, rising to a rounded shoulder, painted with two cranes flying above a deer reclining beside a rock under a pine tree in a rocky landscape
Condition
Two areas of glaze chips measuring 0.1 x 0.1cm and 0.2 x 0.2cm respectively, perhaps caused by the impurities in the clay, has been incorporated as tree knots on the gnarled pine tree trunk painted in underglaze red. There is also a 0.5 x 0.5 bump near the shoulder of the vase which is cleverly incorporated as the crown of a flying crane, near to it is another discoloured 0.1 x 0.2cm burst glaze bubble which appears dark brown. The bottom of the vase has several patches of unglazed areas revealing the buff orange body, the largest measuring circa 0.5 x 0.5cm. There are also other glaze firing imperfections such as iron spots and burst glaze bubbles particularly around the shoulder of the vase. The base has a circa 2.5cm firing crack.
