Description

cast standing four square with head raised and ears pricked, decorated to either side of the body and the head with archaistic C-shaped scrolls, its neck collared with a band of keyfret, its back with a hinged domed cover surmounted by an upright post and capped finial decorated with archaistic scrolls and swirls, wood stand

Condition

The donkey incense burner has minor nibbling along the edges of the donkey's ear. There is a circa 1 x 0.5cm uneven loss to one of the front hooves of the donkey. The body has been artificially corroded in places particularly to the rear haunches and the belly of the animal such that the scrolled designs are blurred, and with associated veining covered in traces of verdigris.
