Description

of archaic bronze form, the pear-shaped body of square section and moulded with a peach-shaped panel to the front and back face, rising to a broad neck with indented corners and flanked by tubular handles, covered with a rich streaked red glaze deepening in tone towards the corner edges where the glaze thins to a pale colour, the square-cut base unglazed and incised with a six-character Guangxu mark

Condition

The fanghu is in very good condition with the exception of four hairlines along the foot (circa 3cm) and another 1.5cm firing crack at the base. There are occasional minute glaze chips on the body and along the foot, other minor glaze firing imperfections include burst glaze bubbles.
