each finely potted with gently rounded sides rising from a short spreading foot, covered inside and out with a rich lemon-yellow glaze, the base glazed white and bearing a six-character Qianlong seal mark

Condition

There is a 5mm. long hairline rim crack to one of the dishes. Otherwise both dishes are in good condition

A Qianlong mark and period yellow-glazed dish of this shape and size is illustrated in Chinese Porcelain: The S.C.Ko Tianminlou Collection, Hong Kong, 1987, pl. 143; another from the British Rail Pension Fund was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 16th May 1989, lot 46; and a third formerly in the collection of Robert Somerville, Chicago, and later in the collection of Harold L. Geiger, was sold in our New York rooms, 22nd March 2000, lot 116.
