each with rounded sides rising from a short foot, the interior incised with four large peaches borne on gnarled leafy blossoms within a double circle, covered overall with a yellow glaze with a slightly iridescent sheen leaving the base white, the base inscribed with a six-character Yongzheng mark within a double circle

Condition
One dish has a burst glaze bubble to the central peach design and further burst glaze bubbles and iron spots around the well. The interior has areas where the glaze is worn particularly around the border of the central medallion (each measuring circa 0.2 x 0.1cm). The exterior has several surface scratches particularly near the base of the dish, with the longest measuring circa 3cm and another measuring 1cm. There is also a discoloured burst glaze bubble and further minute burst glaze bubbles and iron spots.
The other dish has three circa 0.7cm hairlines running vertically along the curved side of the inner well, one of which is also visible from the exterior. The central medallion has several burst glaze bubbles, iron spots and patches of worn glaze (the largest measuring circa 2 x 1cm). The exterior has further burst glaze bubbles and minor scratches ranging from circa 0.2cm to 1cm. The base is slightly discoloured to a buff tone around the sides and there is a burst glaze bubble in the middle of the reign mark.

This charming pair of dishes is notable for their delicately incised auspicious design of fruiting and flowering peaches. A closely related example is illustrated in Ulrich Wiesner, Chinesisches Porzellan, Mainz am Rhein, 1981, pl. 103; one from the collection of K.W. Woollcombe-Boyce was sold twice in our Hong Kong rooms, 29th November 1977, lot 114, and 3rd May 1994, lot 75; another was also sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 31st October 1995, lot 427; and a fourth example, from the collection of E.T. Hall, was sold at Christie's London, 7th June 2004, lot 81.
