Description

  • bamboo
carved in the form of a segment of a trunk with whorls and knots, the almost cylindrical sides rising from a recessed base to an uneven rim, the exterior decorated in relief with two cranes standing on a gnarled pine tree, the bamboo patinated to a chocolate brown tone

Condition

There is a cracked section on the pine tree measuring circa 1 x 1cm loose from the trunk. The bottom of the brushpot has a 0.5 x 0.2cm nick and the patina is slightly rubbed along the uneven rim. Apart from minor age cracks and minute nicks, the brushpot is in good condition.
