Description

rising from a splayed foot to a slightly flaring rim, set at the shoulders with a pair of elephant mask handles, the globular body moulded in relief and painted in cobalt-blue tones with the Eight Immortals embarked on a journey, some seated on a raft while others walking on foot or riding a donkey, all below Shoulao accompanied by a deer and young attendants in a fenced garden, the reverse side with a pair of bats in flight, all reserved on a glaze of pale celadon tone

Condition

This large and impressive vase is in very good condition with the exception of two tiny glaze flakes to the side and underside of one handle and a glaze pull to the side of the other, minor glaze firing imperfections including iron spots and light and minor glaze scratches.
