Description
- porcelain with metal mount
heavily-potted, of baluster form, painted around the exterior in broad strokes with a continuous river landscape, the neck with a band of pendant chrysanthemum flowers alternately reserved on blue and fish roe grounds, separated by pairs of cache motifs issuing long feathery leaves, the domed cover similarly painted, with knop finial, attached to the jar with metal mounts
Condition
The vase has a circa 0.2 x 0.2cm bump and short vertical black scratches around the shoulder, there are other glaze firing imperfections including iron spots, burst glaze bubbles and surface scratchings across the surface. The cover has a kiln grit measuring 1 x 0.2cm on the wide everted rim, the glaze is bubbly thus blurring the underglaze blue decoration. The vase and cover are mounted with metal where the points and border of attachment have become discoloured yellow with verdigris deposits.
